Author Bio

This plug-in will add the post authors biographical information (from their wordpress profile) to the bottom of the post (although only on the single page view of the post, not the main page).

The label that’s displayed infront of the users first name is configurable on the plug-ins settings page.

The plug-in can be downloaded from the wordpress plug-in repoistory.

I forgot to ask another question –
The author name appears as first name only. I want to use another name (for example first and last and title). Is that possible?
    Thank you again,

    Hi,
    Thank you for the plugin.
Is there a way to show the author information on the top of a post, just beneath the post title and not on the bottom?
    Thank you,

  1. Is there a way to change the color and style of the text for this plug-in?

  2. I downloaded the plugin and it is activated but I cannot work out how to use it as it does not automatically appear at the end of my post??

it does not automatically appear at the end of my post??

It actually is showing up on your posts … you just don’t have any text in the author description. Look for the “About:” just below the share button.

    1. Hmm very curious as it is not showing up on any of my computers and even so I cannot work out how to add my author description?

      Thanks
      Brigitte

mm very curious as it is not showing up on any of my computers

Clear your cache & refresh the page?

I cannot work out how to add my author description

Go to the authors & users menu and edit the user you want to add a description to.

If you want to edit yourself, simply click on the your name in the upper right hand side of the admin interface.

I have one author who is actually a couple so I need to include two bios under one authorship. Trouble is that the plugin won’t let me separate the paragraphs. It allows for the but no others including italicizing for the title’s of books or hyperlinks. Are there certain tags that would work or does the plugin require an update for that?

    David! What’s happened?!

No longer displaying gravatar images since updating to version 0.06. Is this a known error or have I done something wrong?

Awesome plugin btw, thanks for your hard work!

      • david on 15 May 2010 at 9:18 am

I’ll check into it this weekend.

Bryoz: Contact me via email private (david at midrange.com) so I can send you a new version that re-implements some stuff that I did earlier.

Useful plugin. I can’t change the “About:” into “A proposito di:” though (I did set it in the prefs). No change…

    • Abhinav on 05 Apr 2010 at 1:16 pm

Yes, precisely. Similar to all the ezine websites where a customizable field is provided for each single post.

      • david on 05 Apr 2010 at 3:55 pm

I think that’s beyond the scope of my plug-in.

    • Abhinav on 03 Apr 2010 at 2:39 pm

    Hi David,

I like your plugin. But, is it possible to have a author bio for each of the individual posts, similar to ezinearticles.com?

is it possible to have a author bio for each of the individual posts

Not sure I completely understand what you are looking for.

Do you mean a author bio that is customizable on a per post basis?

    • david on 31 Aug 2009 at 9:31 pm

I installed the author bio plug-in. When I go to my website, I dont see the author section. What am I doing wrong?

I looked at your blog and it appears to be working fine.

    About Christy:
Christy Lynn Abram is author of the highly anticipated book…

  3. David,

I installed the author bio plug-in. When I go to my website, I dont see the author section. What am I doing wrong?

    • Nancy on 03 Aug 2009 at 1:27 pm

    That would work well!

    • david on 03 Aug 2009 at 1:20 pm

Nancy, would being able to specify which categories the bio shows up in or doesn’t show up in sufficient? I’m working on just such a modification.

    • Nancy on 29 Jul 2009 at 10:57 am

Is there a way to make this as an option? There are some posts that I don’t want it to appear on.

    Thanks.

where exactly would I place this cell table?

You don’t do anything with it … it’s just there. You can alter the style of it if you want. Take a look at the generated HTML to see the classes used.

    and can hyperlinks
to an authors other sites be included?

I could probably add a link to the authors website if it’s set.

I’ll try to get all the suggestions in the next version… although I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to get to it.

    • david on 06 Jul 2009 at 5:33 am

Can you post a picture with it ?

I might be able to include the authors gravitar … would that be sufficient?

    • Cody on 06 Jul 2009 at 2:59 am

Can you post a picture with it ? Like in the parameter of the about ?

    • Valery on 01 Jul 2009 at 4:35 pm

Sorry — new to all of this… where exactly would I place this cell table?

and can hyperlinks to an authors other sites be included?

    Thanks and thrive…

How did you get that cool box to appear around the author bio?

It’s just a single cell table. The blog’s normal styles handle the appearance.

    • Valery on 27 Jun 2009 at 8:55 pm

    Hi David 🙂

Great plugin! How did you get that cool box to appear around the author bio?

    Thanks!

    • david on 08 Apr 2009 at 8:46 pm

I really do … just not this blog. I’m the only author on this blog, so there’s no real use for it. If you go to http://imho.midrange.com, you’ll see the plug-in in action.

    • Missy on 08 Apr 2009 at 8:08 pm

How come you don’t have it on your blog, David? I only ask cause i want to know how it looks. I went to the WordPress download page and there is no screenshot there either.

    Let me know. Thx!
