Must visit Lake Wobegon someday

While I usually don’t comment on politics that often, Ginny found an article by Garrison Keillor that we both found absolutely tremendous.

How did the Party of Lincoln and Liberty transmogrify into the party of Newt Gingrich’s evil spawn and their Etch-A-Sketch president, a dull and rigid man, whose philosophy is a jumble of badly sutured body parts trying to walk?

Suffice it to say … I agree 100% with Garrison on this, and he had stated it quite elegantly and succinctly.

    David,

Check out Keillor’s new book, “Homegrown Democrat.” If I’m not mistaken, the quote in your post is an excerpt from it. If you liked that, there’s tons more in the book.

Found your site while trying to troubleshoot the titleimages plugin. It’s cool… but how do you make the font larger? O.o

    Cheers,

I’m from Anoka (the town on which Lake Woebegon is based) ~ you can have Keillor…. barf.

There’s a reason that Anoka’s most famous son (?) doesn’t have a street named after him. There is a reason he broadcasts now from New York (and occassionally St. Paul) ~ even though there’s theater enough in his home town.

FWIW: Anoka means “Both Sides of the River” or “Two Sides of the River” (We span the Rum River where it joins the Mississippi.) and neither side wants him.
